Invisible City is a collaboration with Pauline Oliveros, created for her musical production, "The Lunar Opera." This event was part of The Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors Festival, and took place at the Lincoln Center Plaza on August 17, 2000. Inspired by Italo Calvino’s book “Invisible Cities,” my outdoor installation looked to create an experience of gradually seeing New York City appear and disappear in and out of view. Invisible City consisted of seven floating veils of white translucent gauze, mounted on a white metal frame, that both revealed and concealed the view of the city.  As one entered Invisible City, the veils obstructed the view, but as the viewer moved through the installation, visibility gradually emerged until the city could be clearly seen.
